The aged care sector in Australia is facing an unprecendented change. The number of people aged 65 and over in Australia is projected to more than double, to 8.8 million, over the next 40 years (Australian Institute of Health & Welfare). Coupled with the Royal Commission in the sector and the new Aged Care Quality Standards, the sector is prioritising the need to improve resident and consumer experiences.
