Staff Surveys and Experience
Why Measure Staff Experience?
Research tells us that having an engaged, motivated and productive workforce is key to delivering a great patient experience i.e. ‘happy staff, happy patients’ and vice versa. A key outcome of the Beryl Institute’s ‘The State of Patient Experience 2017: A Return to Purpose’ report, was that patient experience remains a top priority for organisations with a focus on employee engagement now seen as a central driver in experience effort.
Appropriate staff experience measurement is key to understanding organisational culture and staff challenges. While often conducted through staff or clinician surveys, results are delayed (most surveys are undertaken every 6 or 12 months in many organisations) and insights lack granularity.
The MES Experience platform is a patient experience measurement platform as well as real-time digital system for capturing and real-time reporting on staff experiences. It is able to capture survey data from all levels of staff via multiple channels such as online, tablet, paper and email. Our system provides real-time analysis and reporting including trend analysis, benchmarking, heat maps, demographic analysis, and more.
All results are presented on user-friendly and highly customisable dashboards, and in reports which can be downloaded in excel, csv, word, and pdf formats.
At the core of the system is a highly sophisticated and unique functionality for automatically analysing staff free-text comments called PanSensic. Our current version contains 33 staff experience themes spanning things like Workload & staffing levels, Competence & training, Culture & values, Salary & benefits, etc. Results are presented using a mix of dashboards, word clouds, charts and comments, and it is possible to further ‘drill down’ into the data as well as filter by certain criteria such as demographics, ward, etc.
Your MES Staff Experience Checklist:
- Automated free-text analysis
- Approx. 30 staff experience themes
- Positive, negative and neutral sentiment analysis
- In-context word clouds (by theme)
- Interactive dashboards
- Drill-down capability to actual comments
